FAQs

  • Cocktail attire! Feel free to dress for a garden party. Thin heels are not recommended.

Please note that the ceremony and cocktail hour will be held outside (weather permitting). Although San Diego is usually beautiful in May, please check the weather and bring a light jacket if you tend to get chilly or if you plan to explore the property after the sun sets! There is grass, gravel, and compacted sand on the property; wear shoes that you're comfortable walking in.

  • Our main concern is that you get to and from the wedding safely! The roads to the venue are winding and get very dark at night. It’s best to have a plan if you plan on imbibing.

If you’re staying at Pala Mesa Resort, we’re providing a shuttle service to and from the venue with various departure times.

If you’re coming from nearby and don’t want to drive, Lyft and Uber operate in the area. But, at least for the return trip, consider scheduling a ride in advance to ensure that a driver is available.

If you‘re the designated driver, thank you! There will be street parking in the neighborhood and overflow parking near the gate with a golf cart to take you up to the house.

  • The ceremony begins at 4:30 pm, but you can arrive as early as 3:45 pm.

We recommend that you arrive at least 15 minutes early to find parking, walk up the hill to the ceremony space, and enjoy a glass of champagne or sparkling water before the festivities!

You can park on the street, and overflow parking will be available near the gate (a golf cart can take you to the house).

  • We’re grateful to have you in our lives, and your presence at the wedding is a gift in itself!

We do not expect any gifts, but if you insist, we have a honeymoon fund and short registry available here. The password is the same as the one you use to RSVP.

  • We recommend flying into San Diego International Airport (SAN) or John Wayne Airport (SNA). The drive from either of these airports to the house is typically about an hour to an hour and a half.

  • Here are a couple of hotel options near Fallbrook:

    Pala Mesa Resort (recommended)

    Distance from house: 20 minutes

Cost Estimate: Prices range from $115 – $250/night (average for April 29 – May 2 is currently $162/night)

Perks: Pala Mesa is relatively close to the house, and we will provide a wedding shuttle service to and from the resort. The resort has a golf course, spa, and restaurant, and there are a few lovely wineries nearby (Monserate Winery, Fallbrook Winery, and Estate D'Iacobelli Winery). If you are looking for a more relaxing inland location, Pala Mesa is the option for you!

    Hotels by the Beach

    Distance from house: ~30 minutes

Cost Estimate: Prices range from $100 – $300/night

Perks: If you want to be by the beach, the closest beach is Oceanside. The most cost-effective hotels are near the harbor off the 76. There are also plenty nicer hotels in downtown Oceanside near the pier, or, if you want to venture further south, there are lovely places in Carlsbad, or, Megan’s favorite, Leucadia and Encinitas! (But note that Encinitas/Leucadia are about ~40 minutes from the Rouse House).

  • Although we would love for all the kiddos to be a part of the festivities, the property and reception area will not be equipped to safely and comfortably host small children. If you have any questions, need help finding a trusted babysitter in the area, or if this is prohibitive for your attendance and you would like to discuss additional options, please reach out to Megan or Jaston.

  • May Day is a European holiday dating back to Roman Times that generally takes place on May 1st and celebrates blooming flowers and the turning of the seasons! Although there are various traditions stemming from different countries, many of these traditions involve collecting flowers, being outside, dancing, and giving to others.

Megan and Jaston have long celebrated this holiday, with Jaston and his brother Severin gifting flowers to their mother every year and Megan giving flowers and poems to friends and loved ones (a tradition taught to her by her childhood neighbors). We are excited to be able to gather everyone on this holiday to enjoy flowers, dancing, and the community we have built throughout our lives and relationship.

It is also the anniversary of Megan and Jaston’s first date. And, this May Day, it will be a full moon (the Flower Moon)!
